We want to develop a network of activists and concerned people to help us create a portal that is distinctively about the Murray Darling region and its people. If you have ever used social networks like MySpace‚ and Facebook‚ then you will be able to help us to help get locals jobs, get locals talking about what really matters in their town, and help each other out. We will be starting with the Murray Darling Communities - This portal will be a way to swap ideas, keep in touch and get people working together to find new ways for our river communities and people to work and live happily.
So what can you do?
In increasingly difficult times, we want a portal that would have participants express the following:
- A great network of people who are genuinely concerned about each other,
- In remote, rural communities, provide community support and let people see they are not alone
- A place to help and be helped at the same time
- A sharing of ideas and opportunities that offer unique local solutions to global problems
- An experience that makes us stay with the region and community and long term make it a much better place
So who do we need?
If you are @ or e-literate, handy with emails, or renowned as a blogger or twitterer you might be one of the many activists we need.
If you have experience in the community as a member (not necessarily as a leader) and get involved in issues that concern you and your community you are really starting to fit the bill!
If you have a reputation as a person who gets things done, who helps out, or are the local go to person for community issues of any sort, then we want you as an e-activist on our portal to share your knowledge and spread the e-help on line to other local communities and citizens looking to grow and learn.
So submit your email and join the update list, to hear more about this exciting project
Anything Else?
The portal team will be holding three e-conferences in the Murray Darling region in the next few months. If your town has the issue, the initiative and the get up and go to host one of these events, let us know!
